It is possible though to find a Ref 16570 with solid end links and drilled lug holes. Newer examples feature the flip-lock clasp but there’s no glide-lock adjustment here. Another reason for considering a strap change.
I was allotted a new 2021 Explorer II (226570) today and posted some rough dimensions in another thread. I thought I would follow up with some more detail. All measurements taken with digital calipers and a kitchen scale. Case Dimensions.
Explorer 16570 case. With a diameter of 40mm, and with its relatively slim case size, the watch sits nicely on the wrist. Many people consider this case an ideal size, and would never be able to pull off the newer generation 42mm, but if you prefer larger watches, you may find the 16570 too small for your wrist. In total, Rolex built four generations of the 16570. It started with a series built between 1989 and 1997. It came with a 100m-water-resistant 40mm Oyster case — a millimeter larger than the 1655 — with a 47mm lug-to-lug length and a 12.2mm thickness. Lug holes and end links for your 16570. The next two things to consider are whether you want drilled lug holes and solid (male) or folded (female) end links on the bracelet. Both changes were phased in between 2000 and 2003, so there was no hard transition. Earlier 16570 Explorer IIs came with drilled lug holes. Well, the large 42mm case size has been off-putting for many, considering that its predecessor, the Ref. 16570, was a more agreeable 40mm.
