In an interesting turn of events, it seems as though Panerai quietly updated their P.9010 movement for 2020 onwards. I recently purchased a PAM1313, which I am totally in love with. Having owned a PAM312 before, I knew my way around Panerai watches quite well. What is left of the movement – which ironically is called P.9010 “Evolution” – is a unit that looks like one of those loveless, mass-produced calibers made in the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War. But the P.9010 is not the only caliber that was downgraded without notice. If hacking is important to you (I personally would want it), just be aware some of the more recent watches made with he 9010 caliber don’t hack from my understanding. Just something to keep in mind when choosing a model.
